The attic room was in need of some TLC to create a lively feminine bedroom that would suite a teenager!
Plenty of character and beams to enhance this feel of the old cosy home however there was very little space for storage as can be seen and also no area for study which was the remit of the Client and daughter Lucy. There was also an issue with light so a radical redesign was necessary.
The challenge too would be that their were two doors leading to other rooms in the attic necessary for fire regulations.
Hand drawings were created showing new bespoke furniture design after consultation with Lucy on how she wanted her bedroom to look , feel at the same time giving her the type of space needed. Rewiring would also be a must for more power points and USB sockets.
There was a small wardrobe space in the eves next to where I proposed the bed to be whilst on the other side there was the small fire door.
All other storage space had to be built into the furniture and shelving.
Window dressing would need to be minimum to allow as much natural light into the room as possible through the Victorian window.
Every available space had to be created as an attractive storage area.
The study area was vital to be so the art student could store files and work along with being comfortable to study.
The bed itself was hand built to my design so that every inch could be used for clothing storage. Drawers within drawers etc. with a book case at the foot.
A feature wall was a must in this teenage bedroom chosen by Lucy to give a feeling of the oriental peace from a Japanese theme. A modern rendition of a Cherry Blossom Tree.
The rest of the decor is warm white emulsion to allow as much reflective light as possible into the space.
Fairy Lights and a Hollywood mirror finishing off the feminine look
